My name is LeeAnn Shaffer. I’m from a small town outside of Oakland, called Castro Valley, which is known for essentially nothing. I tend to tell people that I am from “a small town outside of Oakland.” When I was about 15, a family moved into our neighborhood and we become very close with them. They had a 3 year old who couldn’t for the life of him pronounce my name, so he called me Lahn. Lets just say that it really stuck.

I’m currently studying Communication at BYU Idaho, which is where this blog initially got its start as an online class portfolio. My emphasis is in Organization Communication and Advocacy. I’m still figuring out what the first part of that is, but I love the Advocacy part. I’m not sure whether I want to go to law school, or just go on to get a Master’s in Business, but I do know that I want to make a difference in the world through the spoken or written word. Whatever is necessary to give a voice to the voiceless.
